In this study, a method was developed to form C(sp3)-C(sp2) bonds via copper catalyst-promoted cross coupling of 2-methylquinolines I (R1 = H, 6-Me, 7-Cl, etc.) and in-situ-activated 3-haloisoquinolines II (R2 = H, 5-Br, 4-Br; X = Br, Cl) under mild conditions.
