The mixture is stirred at room temperature for 30 min then heated at reflux for 16 h. After this time, dichloromethane (75 mL) and water (50 mL) are added and the aqueous layer is extracted with dichloromethane (3 x 50 mL). The organic layers are combined, washed with brine (20 mL), dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the title compound as a white solid (6.15 g, 60%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CHLOROFORM-d) delta ppm 1.21 (9 H, s), 4.57 (2 H, br. s.), 9.15 (1 H, br. s.).
