The temperature is kept below 8. The mixture is stirred in an ice bath for 2 hours and allowed to stand overnight. The precipitate is removed by filtration and the filtrate poured into 1500 ml. of water. The resulting precipitate is removed by filtration and recrystallized from ethanol. There is obtained 33.1 grams (89%) of cream needles melting at 140-141. Analysis Calcd. for: C15 H15 N3 O6: C, 54.05; H, 4.54; N, 12.61. Found: C, 54.39; H, 4.62; N, 12.80.
