Di-Et chlorophosphite (DECP) was previously described as a reducing agent for nitro compounds to amines (B. Fischer and L. Sheihet, J. Organic Chem. 1998, 63, 393). In this paper we report on the scope of the reaction of DECP with N-oxides, epoxides, sulfones, sulfoxides, hydroxylamines, ketoximes, and aldoximes. The chemoselectivity of DECP is described, and conditions for a stepwise multiple conversion of functional groups on the same mol. with this reagent are provided.

A number of new and known arylselenocarboxamides RC(:Se)NH2 [R = Ph, 4-BrC6H4, 2-MeOC6H4, 4-MeOC6H4, 4-MeSC6H4, 4-EtOC6H4, 2,3-(MeO)2C6H3, 3,4-(MeO)2C6H3, 3,5-(MeO)2C6H3, 4-PhC6H4, 6-MeOC10H6, 4-MeOC10H6] have been prepared in high yields by the reaction of RCN with NaHSe. Treatment of RC(:Se)NH2 (4 mmol) with aqueous Na2PdCl4 (1 mmol) in acetone at room temperature resulted in the formation of 3,5-diaryl-1,2,4-selenadiazoles (L) as unexpected products together with palladium(II) complexes [PdCl2L]2.2H2O. Treatment of RC(:Se)NH2 (4 mmol) with catalytic amounts of Na2PdCl4 (10-3 mmol) gave only 3,5-diaryl-1,2,4-selenadiazoles in good yields. 3,5-Diaryl-1,2,4-selenodiazoles were also prepared by oxidation of arylselenocarboxamides with iodine for comparison.

As one of the most cold and salt-tolerant mangrove species, Kandelia obovata is widely distributed in China. Here, we report the complete chloroplast genome sequence K. obovata (Rhizophoraceae) obtained via next-generation sequencing, compare the general features of the sampled plastomes of this species to those of other sequenced mangrove species, and perform a phylogenetic analysis based on the protein-coding genes of these plastomes. The complete chloroplast genome of K. obovata is 160,325 bp in size and has a 35.22% GC content. The genome has a typical circular quadripartite structure, with a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions 26,670 bp in length separating a large single-copy (LSC) region (91,156 bp) and a small single-cope (SSC) region (15,829 bp). The chloroplast genome of K. obovata contains 128 unique genes, including 80 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, 8 rRNA genes and 2 pseudogenes (ycf1 in the IRA region and rpl22 in the IRB region). In addition, a simple sequence repeat (SSR) analysis found 108 SSR loci in the chloroplast genome of K. obovata, most of which are A/T rich. IR expansion and contraction regions were compared between K. obovata and five related species: two from Malpighiales and three mangrove species from different orders. The mVISTA results indicated that the genome structure, gene order and gene content are highly conserved among the analyzed species. The phylogenetic analysis using 54 common protein-coding genes from the chloroplast genome showed that the plant most closely related to K. obovata is Ceriops tagal of Rhizophoraceae. The results of this study provide useful molecular information about the evolution and molecular biology of these mangrove trees.

Background Sex differences in the trends for control of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors have been described, but temporal trends in the age at which CVD and its risk factors are diagnosed and sex-specific differences in these trends are unknown. Methods and Results We used the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey 2008 to 2017, a nationally representative sample of the US population. Individuals â‰?8 years, with a diagnosis of hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, coronary heart disease, or stroke, and who reported the age when these conditions were diagnosed, were included. We included 100 709 participants (50.2% women), representing 91.9 million US adults with above conditions. For coronary heart disease and hypercholesterolemia, mean age at diagnosis was 1.06 and 0.92 years older for women, compared with men, respectively (both P<0.001). For stroke, mean age at diagnosis for women was 1.20 years younger than men (P<0.001). The mean age at diagnosis of CVD risk factors became younger over time, with steeper declines among women (annual decrease, hypercholesterolemia [women, 0.31 years; men 0.24 years] and hypertension [women, 0.23 years; men, 0.20 years]; P<0.001). Coronary heart disease was not statistically significant. For stroke, while age at diagnosis decreased by 0.19 years annually for women (P=0.03), it increased by 0.22 years for men (P=0.02). Conclusions The trend in decreasing age at diagnosis for CVD and its risk factors in the United States appears to be more pronounced among women. While earlier identification of CVD risk factors may provide opportunity to initiate preventive treatment, younger age at diagnosis of CVD highlights the need for the prevention of CVD earlier in life, and sex-specific interventions may be needed. Purpose: To assess the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients undergoing yttrium-90 glass-microsphere transarterial radioembolization (TARE) with and without concurrent sorafenib. Methods: OS and PFS were analyzed in 55 patients with an intrahepatic tumor (IHT) �0% without advanced or aggressive disease features (ADFs), which was referred to presence of infitrative/ill-defied HCC, macrovascular invasion, or extrahepatic disease treated with only TARE (TARE_alone) and in 74 patients with IHT �0% with ADFs or IHT >50% treated with TARE and sorafenib (TARE_sorafenib). Prognostic factors for OS and PFS were identified using univariate and multivariate analyses. Results: Median OS and PFS of TARE_alone patients were 21.6 (95% CI 6.1-37.1) and 9.1 (95% CI 5.2-13.0) months, resp., and for TARE_sorafenib patients 12.4 (95% CI 9.1-15.6) and 5.1 (95% CI 2.6-7.5) months, resp. Better OS was associated with serum AFP <400 (HR 0.27, p=0.02) in TARE_alone, and IHT �0% (HR 0.39, p=0.004) and AFP <400 (HR 0.5, p=0.027) in TARE_sorafenib. Unilobar involvement (HR 0.43, p=0.029) and AFP <400 ng/mL (HR 0.52, p=0.015) correlated with better PFS in TARE_alone and TARE_sorafenib, resp. Adverse events (AEs) were more frequent in TARE_sorafenib than TARE_alone (92.4 vs 80.3%), but only 9.3% were grade 3 or higher AEs. Conclusion: TARE_alone provided the most prominent survival benefit in IHT �0%- without ADF patients who had unilobar HCC and serum AFP <400 ng/mL. TARE and sorafenib yielded the best outcomes in patients with IHT �0% and serum AFP <400 ng/mL, with some addnl. grade 1-2 AEs compared to TARE only. The polybenzoxazine based on ortho-3-methytetrahydrophtalimide functional benzoxazine containing ortho-nitrile group exhibits excellent thermal stability and low flammability, with a Td10 of 378°C and a HRC value of 180 J/(g K).
