The reaction mixture was extracted with DCM (50 mL). The layers did not separate. CHCl3 (75 mL)/water (50 mL) was added. The combined organic layers were washed with sat’d NaHCO3 (20 mL), brine (20 mL) and dried (MgSO4). Purification by silica gel chromatography using hexanes/ethyl acetate as eluents afforded 55B (1 g, 18% yield) as a tan solid. LCMS m/z 384.3[M + H]+.
