General procedure: A mixture of nitrile (1 mmol), sodium azide (1.5 mmol), catalyst (40 mol%) and DMF (3 mL) was taken in a round-bottomed flask and stirred at 120 C temperature for 12 h. After completion of the reaction the catalyst was separated from the reaction mixture with an external magnet and reaction mixture was treated with ethyl acetate (30 mL) and 5 N HCl (20 mL). The resultant organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was again extracted with ethyl acetate (20 mL).
