General procedure: A mixture of 6-aryl-2-oxo-4-sec-amino-1-yl-2H-pyran-3-carbonitrile (0.5 mmol), 2-cyanomethylbenzonitrile (0.5mmol, 71.0 mg), and NaNH2 (1.0 mmol, 39.0 mg) in dryDMF (4.0 mL) was stirred at 100 C for 35-50 h.
